The official bottled water supplier to Royal Ascot and GB and England Hockey has selected a partner to help manage its energy costs as it strives to be at the forefront of environmental and energy efficiency.

Investment in new state-of-the-art technology and plans for further expansion saw Harrogate Spring Water looking to create a robust and future-proof energy strategy.

To do this, the internationally-renowned producer of still and sparkling spring water

felt they needed to work with a company who could offer them this expert advice.

Damien Wilkinson, finance director at Harrogate Spring Water, said: “We pride ourselves on selecting the best supply partnerships, as such, we selected Businesswise Solutions as our exclusive energy management partner for all our energy requirements.”

Will Golding, Businesswise Solutions’ Energy Sales Manager for the Yorkshire region, said: “The markets are changing and non-energy costs are tipping the balance of a customer’s bill at around 60/40 per cent, so it is vital that manufacturing businesses such as Harrogate Spring Water look for other energy saving and efficiency opportunities within their business.”

The first thing Businesswise Solutions did was analyse existing bills in order that they could develop a procurement strategy for Harrogate Spring Water’s electricity and gas contracts to ensure budgetary control.

With a buying strategy secured, Businesswise could then delve deeper into Harrogate Spring Water’s energy management portfolio to identify various energy efficiency and cost reduction streams.

They knew this was crucial, particularly in light of recent expansion of manufacturing capacity, with the introduction of a new bottling line and ambitious growth plans for the future.

“It was our role as their exclusive energy partner to introduce a robust energy management strategy, which would drive efficiencies throughout the business and support the growth of Harrogate Spring Water,” said Will.

“We did this through various avenues, the first being UTILITYi, Businesswise Solutions’ sophisticated energy management portal.

“The portal allows Harrogate Spring Water to view all energy consumption data, which is essential in understanding energy consumption patterns.

“This platform has also allowed the customer to create environmental/sustainability reports and measures for customers in their supply chain.

“Further activity to date includes a full review and analysis of KVA capacity allowance to ensure that the manufacturing site has the correct capacity in place for expansion.

“An in-depth energy audit of the site helped us to identify energy efficiency opportunities via renewable investment and behavioural changes/load shifting and TRIAD management opportunities.

“Further cost saving initiatives, estimated to achieve a saving of £27,000 per annum come 2019, have been identified through Climate Change Levy exemption.

“Effectively, we have offered Harrogate Spring Water a one-stop total energy management solution. We look forward to continue our strong partnership into the future.”
